Slowly but surely, my stamping-mojo comes back… I managed two ATCs for Art Pieces challenge #9 – Pearls. Last minute kind of thing, again – but at least I made it!

So langsam kommt endlich meine Stempel-Muse zurück… Ich habe zwei ATCs fertig bekommen für die Herausforderung #9 von Art Pieces, Perlen. Auf die letzte Minute – aber ich habe es wenigstens geschafft!

What a pleasant surprise! I had wanted to do the Art Pieces challenge #34: Birds but thought I was too late. When I checked out this weeks theme, I saw I had still until midnight today to enter. Yipee!

I used up some more of my sponge-background, which goes really well with the silhouette birds from Inkadinkado. Time to make some more soon! I had already stamped them a while ago and was happy to just die-cut them with my recently aquired Spellbinders-ATC-die. I cut off a little of each side so the background would show to make a “frame”.

In my opinion, no embellishments were necessary. The “Firebird” and the “Owl-King” were placed a bit odd on the paper, though, so I tried to balance this with adding text and die-cuts respectively. I like the “Owl-King”, he looks a bit funny! Looking at all the ATCs in the series, I have to admit the green ones look best – a bit like there was real foliage in the background.

At least I finished ONE of the current Art pieces challenges within the two weeks given. I thought long and hard about my favourite movie – there are some I can see time and time again… In the end, I picked one I love because it is so much FUN to watch and you can really see the actors having fun making the film. Of course, digging through my scraps I also found scraps for Topkapi (another FUN film, and full of suspense) and, of course, for Three hazelnuts for Cinderella (a Czech/GDR coproduction of the 70ies, I think) and THE most romatic film. EVER. As I was running out of time, I choose POTC as I had a) scraps, b) a stamped tall ship-image and c) great wraping paper to go with it…

Wenigstens habe ich EINE Art Pieces Herausforderung in den 2 Wochen geschafft. Ich habe lange nachgedacht, was denn mein absoluter Lieblingsfilm ist – es gibt einige, die ich wieder und wieder sehen kann… Ich habe mich schließlich für einen Film entschieden, der einfach nur SPASS macht und bei dem man sieht, dass die Schauspieler genausoviel Spass beim Drehen hatten. Beim Durchsuchen meiner Schnipsel-Sammlung habe ich noch Schnipsel für Topkapi gefunden (noch ein Film, der Spaß macht und dazu super spannend ist) und, natürlich, für 3 Nüsse für Aschenputtel, der romantischste Film ALLER ZEITEN. Da die Zeit knapp wurde, habe ich mich für die Piraten der Karibik entschieden, weil ich a) Schnipsel dazu hatte, b) einen bereits gestempelten Großsegler und c) klasse “dramatisches” Geschenkpapier für den Hintergrund…

Das Thema König&Königin bei Think Monday, think ATC hatte mich gereizt – aber ich wurde mal wieder nicht rechtzeitig fertig. *seufz*

Trotzdem möchte ich Euch das ATC nicht vorenthalten. Der Stempel ist einer meiner Lieblinge, auch wenn ich mit Photostempeln nicht so doll klarkomme…

I wanted to do something for the King&Queen challenge at Think Monday, think ATC - but again, I didn’t finish in time. *sigh*

I still want to show you the ATC. The stamp is another favourite of mine though I don’t cope well with photo -stamps…

Bevor ich mich an meinen Traum von einer Tour durch ganz (Schengen-/ EU-) Europa erinnert habe, hatte ich für Art Pieces #29 dieses ATC gebastelt. Ich kann mich allerdings nicht entscheiden, ob ich lieber auf dem Boot oder im Leuchtturm Ferien machen möchte! Beides wunderschöne Träume…

Before I remembered my dream of a tour trough all of (Schengen-/ EU-) Europe, I made this ATC for Art Pieces challenge #29 . I can’t decide, though, if I’d rather spend my holiday on the boat or in the lighthouse! Both wonderful dreams…

Art Pieces called for “My dream vacation” in challenge #29 and for an ATC-sized baggage tag in #28.

I have been very lucky so far in my life. Among other things, I have had several dream vacations. I have been to Greenland twice.  I saw the polar bears in Churchill, Manitoba/Canada and the penguins in Simonstown/South Africa. I saw the polar lights and the midnight sun. I’ve been cruising in an open top jeep between olive groves under the full moon of the Mediterranean and I have seen the stars and the moon the sun north and south of the equator. I climbed on to the top of the Chinese Wall. I have used the Staten Island ferry in New York and the Star ferry in Hong Kong. I have seen castles and towers, skyscrapers and cottages and nomad tents, ancient monuments and the transitory art of snow castles. I have seen the desert, hills and mountains, woods and wild country, I have stood on shores and beaches on many places on this world. Last but not least, I have walked all over my home town and the city of Frankfurt/Main where I was born and seen a fair share of my home country of Germany (though I am lacking in visits to the eastern part of it).

I have experienced the fun and friendship of small and large gatherings of scouts and guides. I have travelled with friends, with family and on my own.

So, what is a dream vacation for me?

When I started to think about it, and all those dream vacations I was lucky to have, I suddenly remembered an idea I had when more states joined the Schengen-Agreement this year which allows for easy travel within the EU. I wanted, leisurely! , to travel through the EU – from the Baltic States to Portugal, from Ireland to the Balkan states. And this is what the ATC is supposed to show: My dream of a road trip through Europe from B as in Berlin to Z as in Zagreb.

As for the baggage tag, I wanted to make it not only for show but for use – which means to hide the adress so that it can’t be seen right away. This way, nobody snooping round the airport or train station can spy on you and find out that your house or flat is going to be empty because you are going away… Constant vigilance! (as Mad-eye-Moody from JKRs Harry Potter series says…)

Zur Feier des Tages ein ATC, das schon ein paar Tage alt ist – eigentlich war es für die “Saturday’s Workout” #62, bei dem Alufolie als Hintergrund verwendet werden sollte. Dafür wurde es aber nicht rechtzeitig fertig. Also schummel ich es jetzt bei Think Monday, Think ATC unter. Der blaue Kreis hat doch was Mond-ähnliches, oder? Und Mr. Spock ist eh spacig. *lautes Lachen*

What do you know? The lunar landing celebrates its 40th birthday today – like I did earlier this year! *smile*

To celebrate the anniversary I show an ATC that is a few days old already – it was meant for “Saturday’s Workout” #62 where aluminium foil was to be used in the background. I didn’t finish intime and so I sneak the ATC in under Think Monday, Think ATC. The blue circle looks a bit like the moon, doesn’t it? And Mr. Spock is space personified. *LOL*

Für Think Monday, think ATC sind soeben zwei Kärtchen fertig geworden. Das erste ist ein bisschen langweilig geraten, aber ich wusste einfach nicht, was ich noch an Dekoration drauf packen sollte… So ist es jetzt erst mal so geblieben. – Ausgemalt mit Aquarell-Buntstiften. Das “Gras” hatte ich mit etwas Druck gestrichelt, damit es nicht ganz vermalt wird und noch Striche zu sehen sind, wenn ich mit dem Pinsel drüber gegangen bin.

Das zweite ist ein Gnom, den ich bei mir im Garten gesichtet habe *grins*. Er ist ebenfalls mit Aquarell-Buntstiften ausgemalt. Der Rand des ATCs ist mit schwarzem Stempelkissen gewischt, auf diese Weise ist der Nachthimmel auch schön dunkel geworden. Um den Übergang nicht zu hart zu machen zwischen dem Blau von den Aquarellstiften und dem Schwarz vom Stempelkissen, habe ich mit einen Tuch noch Farbe von einem blauen Stempelkissen genommen und auf den Rand und die Übergänge getupft.

I just finished these two for Think Monday, think ATC . The first one is a bit boring but I simply had no idea what kind of decoration I might add… So I just left it like that. - Coloured with watercolour-pencils. I used a bit of force when scribbling the “lawn” so the scribbles would still be visible after I applied the water to suggest more grass stems.

The second ATC shows a garden gnome I found in my own garden *LOL*. He is coloured with watercolour-pencils as well. The edges were darkened with an ink-pad which darkened my nightsky nicely as well. To soften the change from the blue watercolour pencil to the black ink, I picked up some blue ink from another ink-pad with a tissue and applied it to the border between black and blue.
